New Health, Safety & Hygiene Protocols
Dear Travel Partners and valued guests,
As we prepare to welcome you again, we would like to present our redefined health, safety and hygiene protocols which are in line with the expert protocols that have been developed to safeguard against COVID-19.
Our commitment to service excellence has not changed, however we need to adapt to the new situation. We have taken all necessary precautions to minimize the risk of infection and transmission of Covid-19 to employees, contractors, day visitors and overnight guests. We will endeavour to continue to offer experiences with the highest measure of health, safety and hygiene standards in place.
Safe & clean environment according to stringent protocols
We will at all times adhere to the protocols set out by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Ministry of Health and Tourism as well as by the Operational Health & Safety Industry of South Africa (OHSISA). Furthermore, we have appointed an OHSISA certified Safety Officer, who is responsible for the implementation of the measures laid out by the different entities.
All our staff have received proper OHSISA staff training, as per regulations.
Temperature screening and staff monitoring:
Every staff member is obliged to be temperature screened before interacting with guests and other staff. This way we ensure the safety of all our guests and visitors. Each guest will also be temperature screened in a safe and noninvasive way to ensure the health and safety of all people. All screening is kept on record. Furthermore all staff and contractors are obliged to adhere to medical declarations and travel managements, regularly attend information briefings as well as wear Personal Protective equipment (PPE) such as a face mask.
Surface area and general sanitizing/disinfection:
We are committed to further enhance the already rigorous cleaning of high-touch surface areas as well as areas who see a frequent flow of people. These areas include, but are not limited to, transfers and shuttles, all public areas in the main lodge building, check-in desk and reception, guest rooms, staff areas as well as offices.
Furthermore we will pay special attention to the sanitation and cleaning in the following areas: luggage handling, cash & speed point handling and sanitizing of equipment (computers, copy machines, telephones etc).
Physical distancing as well as the regular washing and sanitizing of hands will be strictly adhered to.
Food and beverage safety and hygiene strategy:
To ensure the safety of our staff, guests and visitors and in line with the regulations, no buffet dinners will be available at Umbhaba Eco Lodge. Together with our chef we have created a small, suitable menu for our guests to enjoy.
Only laminated menus will be used and wiped down with disinfectant before each use. For small groups we can also arrange a BOMA Dinner outside.
Physical distancing will be established through the rearrangement of chairs and tables, ensuring a 1,5 metre distance between the guests.
Capacity control and physical distancing:
To ensure physical distancing we will control the amount of people gathering in the public areas as well as in queues.
Vehicles, shuttles, transfers and game activities will be operational under strict capacity control according to set regulations. Play areas in the lodge may be open under strict adherence to physical and social distancing.
Professional care and experience:
In the event of a suspected case of COVID-19 at our property, we have a clear and defined plan of action which will then be followed. All our staff is trained for such occasion and you can be rest assured that the safety of our guests and staff is our main priority.
We hope the provided information comforts you, knowing that these protocols are in place and we’re looking forward to welcoming you soonest.
